Welcome to my blog — and to the next adventure in my life.
I’m Maria: a mom (about to be an empty nester in just 4 days!), a floral designer, plantscaper, and passionate home cook — especially when it comes to Peruvian and Mexican food. As I approach 50 next year, I’m embracing a new chapter focused on wellness, creativity, and personal growth. That means experimenting with healthy recipes, finding workouts I actually enjoy, and nurturing the woman I’m becoming.
I’m currently working on growing my business, Hele Mele Botanicals, and dreaming about what’s next — whether it’s building this brand or exploring something entirely new. I’m also teaming up with my best friend to launch a podcast called @islandtalksstory, where we’ll share what we’re loving lately — from design tips to beauty and health insights. We’ll also be telling our motherhood stories over at @thecompanyofmoms.
Oh, and did I mention I’m in a complicated love story? Deeply in love, but… it’s complicated. I’d give anything for it to be simple and just the two of us. Writing has helped me process it all — I’m currently working on a book (well, more like journaling out loud) that I hope will one day resonate with others navigating love, loss, and reinvention.
And yes — Floral Ambush is coming! It’ll be my YouTube show filled with flowers, surprise moments, and a lot of fun.
